last week in cram (26/10/10), charlie and i finished editing our video. it was hard, because once we finished, we realised we hadn't used any titles or credits , so when we tried to put them in we moved the whole video out of sync, so we had to put that right by making some clips longer, some shorter, and just jiggling things around till it fit in. once we did that, we realised that some of our video had nothing in it, so we had to find some good useable footage that we hadnt used too much because the bit that had nothing on it was towards the end of the video because when we used the titles and credits, we had moved the footage too much. this was annoying because it meant we had to edit loads of footage to make it work well again.

we were doing this the whole lesson, so we didnt have much time to do admin and paperwork so this means i have to do alot of it today, which is gonna be boring, but it has to be done.

in cram last lesson (19/10/10) charlie and i started our editing of our film. we couldn't find some of the footage, so charlie searched through loads of tapes to find our footage, this was annoying because our best footage was the stuff we couldn't find. when we got that sorted out, and found the footage we lost we got to start editing. we made a good start but we have a lot to finish this week, because we got about one and a half minutes of footage edited for the 3 minute song. this is going to be hard because we have used our best footage already and our better green screen images, but we can find more images on google, and we will have to make do with the footage we have got, or we could use some again. this is a little image of our editing. we don't have much done yet, so we have a lot to do so out top priority will be to finish the video and do the paperwork if we have enough time.

these are all the files we used up to this stage in our editing, but we still have to find more pictures for the green screen.

today in cram, i put the ideas to Tim, because charlie wasnt in school at that time. i suggested that we use green screen, to make it look like the band are playing their music on a beach, or a mountain, while sitting on deck chairs, or using slow motion on a beach ball popping. this was kinda easy, because i didnt have charlie butting in. Tim is really friendly, and it's good to be working with someone who isnt just 'do this, do that' but more friendly.
we started to film. we used 6 year 8 students from Coleridge to dance and jump around and just basically be happy.
<-- we used these ones. we went onto the school field and at the front of the school to film them jumping around in a hyper way. they did as we asked , but we ended up only really using 4, cause 2 went back to P.E. it was difficult to decide what to film, but in the end, we excepted suggestions from the year 8 kids, but in the end we used all of our ideas.

today in cram, we spent most of the day planning and coming up with ideas for the song we were given, which is called 'Holiday' by Okapi. we were looking at examples of the classes' lip syncing practices, one i thought was good was James's video 'Tainted Love' by Marilyn Manson because the video and James's actions suited the type and mood of the video. i also liked Mr Durran's 'rendition' of there she goes' by 'six pence , none the richer'. It made me think about the name they chose for their band, because an okapi is a sort of "zebra giraffe donkey thingamajig". (see below)

Charlie and I came up with ideas like having the band jump off of a platform onto something soft, or into water, or we could use footage in reverse of someone taking stuff out of a suitcase, so it looks like they're packing really fast. The song is quite a funny song, with, as far as i can see, no real serious point to it, but i think that make the song as good as it is, because the lyrics suit the upbeat nature of the song. i think we should try to make a bright, happy video, because it would go well with the jokey, happy, image the song gives us when we listen to it.

Today in cram, we learned about lip syncing. We were shown some videos about how people have lip synced. We were the given cameras to go out and practice lip syncing. We used the song 'Three Little Birds' by Bob Marley.
i found this difficult because I'm shy on camera and don't like being filmed, but it was okay because i knew the song, so i didn't embarrass my self too much. it was successful because i used a song i knew well instead of a different song. it wasn't good because I'm still shy, but hopefully as the course goes on i will get more confident. this have given me the idea that we, depending on the type of song we are given, could use lip syncing in our project for the client.

the last group's work is well made, especially hadid's video, because the effects were not over used. We will try to use some close ups on our video, but not too many, and we wont overuse the effects. we will avoid over using effects and long shots, because they can be good, but not all the time. i didn't get many ideas from watching the videos except that we will make a video with the mood of the music, and make it as professionally as we can.
